Range Facility

Discover Our Shooting Range

Fire Mountain Shooting Range is an open access shooting facility available for people to practice and to improve their shooting skills, and for groups to hold shooting competitions. Fire Mountain is available to all firearm users. Access is provided by a gravel road 100m north of the Kitimat Refuse Site. Turn east onto this road and travel 1 km east and south to reach the range.

Feature Improvements

The range area is owned by the District of Kitimat and managed by the Kitimat Shooting Club. In 2010 the site was redeveloped to include a new 400 meter large bore and rimfire rifle range, an 18 m x 4 m (60′ x 14′) covered shooting line, silhouette rails, a shotgun course featuring 5-stand shooting, appropriate signage and an approved 50 m restricted weapon (handgun) range.

Funding For Redevelopment

This redevelopment project was made possible through an agreement between the District of Kitimat and the Alcan Anderson Creek Shooting Society. Funding was obtained from a Recreation Infrastructure Canada Grant, the District of Kitimat and Rio Tinto Alcan. Further assistance was provided by volunteers and West Fraser Eurocan.

Please respect the shooting range by placing paper targets on the stands provided. Take your garbage out with you; do not leave it at the range.
